About artist:
Nyota is a rapper, vocalist and songwriter from Cape Town with the charisma and skill of artists 10 years her senior.
With Congolese-Irish-South African heritage, her unique, eclectic and rebellious style of music draws influences from Rap/Hip Hop, Jazz, Trap, Soul and more into a fusion she calls "Trazz".
At 20 years old, Nyota’s mature lyrics and voice have caught the ears and hearts of many by speaking about breaking society's boundaries and not conforming to what restrictive systems have to offer.
The goal of this is to initiate a music concept that allows Nyota Parker and her team, Obscura Films, to create an outstanding visual project around the new album that she is shortly releasing. This is also for the album launch exhibition events that will take place in both Cape Town and New York. These events will both host industry executives, industry professionals and the general public. This project introduces Nyota Parker as an artist who pushes for non-social norms and encourages non-conformism. This project is the official step in connecting Nyota Parker to her global audience through music and world class videos.
Not only does she need to lease the beats, but she also is trying to keep her online presence active such as on her website, Distrokid and others (https://www.nyotaparker.org/ ).
It is a struggle for an upcoming artist in a completely different country, reaching her goals and being stuck amidst a pandemic not knowing when the rest of her performances/tour will begin again.
All plans and means of getting paid for what we do have been put on hold for most recording and performing artists.
