Hello we are Days for Girls UNCG,
Living in poverty for a women can be extremely difficult because women naturally have menstrual cycles. With that being said, girls in poverty struggle with not having access to sustainable feminine hygiene projects. Without access to sanitary supplies for girls that means days without school, days without income, days without leaving the house? Girls use leaves, mattress stuffing, newspaper, corn husks, rocks, anything they can find, but can still miss up to two months of school every year. It turns out this issue is a surprising but instrumental key to social change for women all over the world. The poverty cycle can be broken when girls stay in school.
Our purpose as the opening chapter for Days for Girls UNCG is to improve the lives of young girls around the world by providing them with sustainable resources necessary to focus and flourish in their education as well as their communities. Providing young girls with the ability to discover their potential and self-value through education and agents of social change. This purpose will be fulfilled by providing girls access to sustainable feminine hygiene solutions as a foundation for young girls to grow into powerful women of the world.
Days for Girls kits consist of quality sustainable feminine hygiene products used during menstruation. Without these kits, these young women will miss two months of school a year. Every girl in the world deserves education, safety, and dignity.
Our efforts to create these kits can’t take effect unless we have the support of everyone in our community.
That’s where you come in!
By raising $1000 our chapter will be able to afford enough materials to create 100 kits to send to girls in need around the world. The vision of this international organization is that every girl and women in the world have ready access to quality sustainable hygiene by 2022. Our chapter has taken on the task to help that vision succeed.
