3000 for Marrow for Daylynn's 30th!

Tax deductible
Hi Hello:

If we don't know one another yet, I'm Daylynn, Marrow 's founder and director! This year I am turning 30, so while I am perpetually fundraising in one form or another, I decided it was time for me to make a big personal ask on behalf of Marrow!

(This is me in our cool bathroom.)

The Goal:

I set this fundraising amount because I'm turning 30, because 3 is a special number to me, and because $3,000 is our current doors-open monthly operating expense (so, the bare minimum to keep things running here - rent and electric! Really it's much more than that though, because our youth leaders and I are all doing this work unpaid right now!)

My goal is to reach this number by my birthday, May 17th!

Why the Heck:

I founded Marrow because I think young people are incredible; and their voices are too often silenced, and their choices narrowed by capitalism, colonialism, and all of the oppressive and marginalizing systems that are entwined with them. School is neither the sanctuary or creative fire-lighter that it should be for most young people, and I think that's wrong.

Keeping Marrow open isn't easy; this work is not valued by capitalism because it doesn't output a product - it outputs POWER. I've seen so many young people grow into themselves in this space. Discover skills, and creativity, and leadership that they didn't realize they had in them. Unlock potential that they didn't believe was theirs to have.

This place is entirely funded by the community, and while that kinda sucks, I think it's important. Grants will come and go. Rent will rise and fall (haha let's be real, it will just rise). But our community will always be here. Growing. Deepening our roots.

For Marrow to be sustainable, we all need to pitch in how we can. Maybe for you that's $5, maybe it's $200, maybe it's more. Every little amount truly adds up.

100% of the money from this campaign will go toward Marrow's rent! If you want to know more about Marrow you should check out our website and our instagram account !

Additionally:

Asking for money for Marrow is weird and hard because so many of the youth who I work with and who make this space what it is are struggling to survive financially. If you have more to give, please feel free to contact me and I'll share the cashtag/paypal/venmo accounts of some youth who could also really use some support.

Any questions about that, or Marrow, or this campaign can be directed to me at [email redacted]
I love to chat, if you're local I'm always down to grab a coffee, too!

Thank you and I love you!!!!

My hope is that folks from all areas of my life will support this campaign, and if I know you from my majority years that I spent growing up on the east coast - I send you hugs and hope that some day you're able to make it out to Marrow and see first-hand what a special and unique place this is. <3
