Dax's ICU Veterinary Bills

On August 2 Dax had an endoscopy to remove two stones that he had swallowed.  Following the procedure he started experiencing complications so he was admitted to the ICU for the first time.  The DVM's struggled to keep Dax's temperature down while also treating his other symptoms.  Dax was diagnosed with a mild case of pneumonia on August 6 and began receiving treatment, but he still continued to struggle.  They even tried infusion of human immunoglobin.  Things finally started looking up for Dax and he was able to rejoin Dave at home on August 11.  But the joy of being at home didn't last long.  Dax's pneumonia has worsened and he has been readmitted to Southern Colorado Veterinary Internal Medicine for more tests.  The DVM's at Southern Colorado Veterinary Internal Medicine have said that this is the most complex case that they have been up against and they are utterly perplexed.  Dax has lost a total of 25 lbs in the last two weeks, and has spent the majority of those two week in the ICU.  As you can imagine, this kind of around the clock care and diagnostics come with a price.  So far, the cost of Dax's care is up to $40,000.  While Dave does have pet insurance on Dax, there is still a huge out of pocket portion to be paid that is associated with this total.  This is where you can help.  Dax has blessed many of us in one way or another.  Whether it was with his big goofy personality, or with one of his puppies, Dax has left paw prints on all of our hearts!  This is our opportunity to return the love back to Dax.  Get well soon, big guy.  You have a lot of traveling and exploring left to do!
