Dawson Springs Tornado Relief to Rebuild Homes

My name is Dan Monroe. I grew up in Dawson Springs and all of my family still lives there. My mother and a handful of my cousins were hit hard with the tornados that came through Dawson Springs, Ky. My hometown has experienced one of the worst tornados in history recording record winds over 180mph at a Category 5 leaving devastation and complete destruction in its path. Not only is Dawson Springs home to me but also former governor Steve Beshears and the grandparents of now Governor Andy Beshears. Dawson Springs was a thriving city years ago but today it has a third of its population living below the poverty line.

 

Rebuilding in this small town is going to be a very difficult task and a long journey ahead. It will require bringing in trained professionals to start from the ground up in most cases including four of my cousins homes. Unfortunately they were left with nothing but a few walls still standing and their cars completely destroyed.

Your generosity in helping put peoples homes and lives back together is desperately needed. The funds raised will go directly to helping people that have lost their homes rebuild and provide assistance with constructing new homes and shelters in Dawson Springs, Ky. I am asking my friends from the Hilton Head/Bluffton lowcountry area to help support these efforts in order to rebuild homes for tornado victims.
