Davis County Pride Event Contributions

Davis County PRIDE Utah! We began small, with the hopes of growing big. We are not a nonprofit organization yet, but we hope to be someday! Why? For our youth! This grassroots movement began because of the DSD Administration banning any Pride Flags from our schools! See Here. We put together our first Event that took place on October 14th. Northern GLSEN, Utah Pride, Murray Equity Alliance (MEA), UCPC-Utah Citizens for Positive Change and Planned Parenthood supported our youth by helping and showing up! We had speakers, an open mic, swag, decorations and some rainbow cupcakes that were made by Lovee’s Cakes, Black Woman Owned. The smiles on the faces if our LGBTQIA+ ️‍ was worth it. We want to make sure the community knows they are loved, they belong, and we are here. We were able to obtain a grant for 2K from Project Rainbow. We’ve made a lot of progress by getting a venue in Layton. We just found out that the insurance due the event will cost approximately $1,500 the park will cost approximately $700 because of the size and we have to hire city workers. We are hoping to hire a DJ with sound system that will be able to help run the show with mic system for speakers, performers, etc. We opened up an account with US Bank to use only for this purpose for transparency and accountability. Any money left over will sit in the bank until the next event. Receipts and bank statements will be in order at all times. Goal is to become organized enough to become nonprofit. We can grow this. We need every ally and every organization that supports the LGBTQIA* community to donate and volunteer. We need members of the community to be involved! We have set goals to lift the voices of our marginalized community. Please be patient with us as we are navigating through uncharted territory. Let’s do this!!!
