Having Cerebral Palsy (Spastic Hemiplegia & strabismus), I have lived with ankle pain and dysfunction for all of my life. Resulting in 3 previous ankle surgeries and years of persistent chronic pain.
Often in the back of the group or the back of the pack when it came to gym class, recess, after school activities as a kid. Then limiting my physical activity, and causing balance issues, tripping, and often falling, later on in life.
What are the conventional treatment options you might ask? A full ankle replacement, cadaver tendons, or my personal favorite, an ankle fusion (give this a google, the pictures are pretty unappealing)!
Enter the Exosym, a feat of human ingenuity and design, a kinetic orthosis which has allowed me to live free of ankle pain for the past 5 months. It works! Now I am seeking your assistance and support to allow me to keep it.
Considered an experimental/unproven treatment, this device will not be covered by my insurance. As such, I am setting up this fund to help crowd raise the $11k needed to finance this solution.
