David's Transplant Recovery Fund

As many of you know, my husband, David, was re-diagnosed in March 2013 with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and on November 4, 2013, he had a bone marrow transplant. He has been in the University of Alabama in Birmingham hospital since October 27th and will be for another couple of weeks. After his discharge from the hospital, he will have to stay in the Birmingham area until the transplant team releases him to his oncologist back home in Dothan, Alabama. I am organizing this site with the hopes of helping to raise funds for our family during his recovery for the next several months.


Due to his many hospitalizations for chemotherapy, he has been unable to work since May 2013. I have taken a medical leave from work to be with him during this time and unfortunately, this isn't a "paid" leave of absence. I have exhausted all of my accumulated time before his transplant because of his 4-5 days every 3 weeks in the hospital for a few months and numerous appointments to Birmingham previous to his transplant.


David or "DPeezy" as we like to call him has had an amazing, uplifting, positive outlook and spirit since his initial diagnosis and treatment in 2009, remission in 2010-2012, and re-diagnosis in 2013. Many of our family and friends have asked, "Is there anything that we can do?" We have to continue to pay for the health insurance premium out of pocket while I am not working, increasing medical bills, along with our mortgage, medications, food, travel expenses, etc.
