David's Olympic Luge Dream

It all started with a tryout in Wisconsin in August 2016. A tryout for what you ask... for the United States Luge Team.
Lo and behold, he made it and now he's part of the U.S. D (developmental) Team. As many of you can imagine, it will be a long journey ahead to reach his Olympic Dream and we would love your support. This first year on the D Team will require David to attend approximately 9 weeks of training at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY. He will need to travel back and forth to NY several times as well as pay for boarding, tutoring, and luge equipment.
The luge season takes place between the beginning of October through March. He will be sliding on Mt. Van Hoevenberg's Luge/Bobsled Track where he will learn more techniques to improve his sliding. David has many intermediate goals to reach before the Olympics are insight. The road to the Olympics starts with the D Team, which he is currently on. He will then try to make the C (candidate) Team, followed by the big jump to the Junior National Team, where athletes race internationally. Finally, the ultimate goal is to become a Senior National Team member, which the Olympic Team is selected from.
Most luge athletes, take approximately 8-12 years to make the Olympic team. We are very proud of David- his determination and dedication is truly impressive!
For this season, we would like to make David's wish continue by raising funds for his travel to Lake Placid, NY. He has his scheduled training weeks plus races in the Empire State Games in February and the US Nationals Luge Race in March.
