David Overby & Americana Band

Donation protected
Today, a friend and neighbor, David Overby, suffered a tragic loss in Peosta, Iowa when his century farm home burned in a fire. The fire apparently started when the UTV in his garage caught on fire, and then spread to his home.

Although insurance should cover the buildings and some of the personal contents, David is the leader of The Americana Band, and instruments and music were damaged or lost due to water and smoke. It is hoped that the music and a few of the instruments, some antique, can be salvaged, but waterlogged paper and wooden instruments are likely to need replacement.

Dave has many friends in the Tri-State area around Dubuque, and many have offered help. At this time, the American Red Cross and Servicemaster are assisting in cleanup and with necessities. So what is needed most at this time is just donations to replace music and instruments if possible.

Even if all you feel you can do is $10, any donation is greatly appreciated.

DUBUQUE COUNTY (KWWL) -
The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says a garage fire on Thursday spread to a nearby residence, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage.

Crews responded to a report of the fire in the 13000 block of Swiss Valley Road, near the Dubuque Regional Airport, around 1:08 p.m. this afternoon.

A man at the residence said he parked his UTV in the garage, and then found it on fire soon after. Crews say the flames engulfed the garage, before spreading to the residence.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says an investigation is still in progress. Officers were assisted at the scene by the Key West, Epworth and Peosta/Centralia Fire Departments."

David built this house himself, and it contained many treasures and antiques in addition to the Americana Band equipment and music.

If you'd like to learn more about the Americana Band, you can view their Webpage here:

You can also look them up on YouTube for more musical clips.

The band is scheduled to play for a German dinner in April, and for Cinco de Mayo in May.  We will play provided our music can be rescued in time.

Please consider a donation to assist David and the Americana Band in getting back on their feet and ready for rehearsals and performances!

Thank you for your interest in this cause.
