As many of you know, Dave had an episode Friday the 28th at around 1050pm, that sent him to the hospital. He was coded & shocked by EMS. Due to the extremely critical nature of his condition, he was transported to AMMC, in Paragould. Once a pulse was regained, he was transferred to an ICU in Jonesboro, where they determined that he went into cardiac arrest.

Saturday morning, he was taken to Cath Lab. Three stents were placed to open severe blockages in his heart. This major cardiac event left his heart extremely weak. An Impella pump was placed to do the work of the heart, giving him time to recover. If, & when, the Impella is removed, it will be removed in surgery, but at this time, it remains in place.

His kidneys & lungs have also taken a huge hit. He is currently maintained on a ventilator & a continuous dialysis machine.

He’s has been sedated since his arrival to the hospital. Due to his unstable condition, he is in a medically induced coma.

The family is very aware of Dave’s medical wishes, if he were to become medically incapacitated. We are making the difficult choices as a team, to the best of our ability & knowledge at this time.

This has been a very difficult time for the McQuay family. We have been very close-knit, to maintain a strong support system for Dave, & each other, during this trying time. We have been by his side around the clock.

His healthcare team has literally worked miracles. We are eternally grateful for the unwavering support, education, & compassion they have shown our entire family.

Dave has been a hard working man his whole life! He has owned & operated, A-1 Arkansas Roofing for over 30 years and Dave’s Dawg House for the last 13 years. He has established many close, & meaningful friendships throughout the years. He took much pride in all his work, and he strived to create an environment that was fun & safe for everyone he met.

As a roofer, he has spent the last five years contracted through Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Arkansas. For nearly 20 years, he worked closely with the Holy Angels Convent, replacing roofs & providing other various construction needs. He has developed many very special relationships with several Sisters from the Convent community. They took him in, & accepted him as one of their own, quirks & all... & we all know he has plenty of those to go around!

Dave has the prayers of the entire Holy Angels Convent at his back. There’s NO WAY God isn’t hearing us!

We appreciate y’alls support, kind words, well wishes, & prayers. We know he does too.

Due to Dave’s self-employment status, he did not maintain health coverage. He was always the self-pay, money in hand & out of pocket type. With this GoFundMe account, we hope to raise money that will help keep Dave’s livelihood functioning in his absence. His medical bills alone will be a huge hit, but we hope to help as much as we can. We want him to have something to come back to, because HE WILL COME BACK! We all know Dave isn’t a quitter!
