Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of my brother, David James McLeod Hill, on January 29th 2026. Dave was more than a brother—he was a son, a friend, and someone who meant the world to so many of us. He was the light in our lives. In the words of one of his brotherhood friend, ' He was a Legend'. Dave was kind, loving, funny, enthusiastic, who had a love for words, creating things, computers, music, rocks and philosophy. He dared to be different. He saw the world in ways many of us didn't. He was unique. Dave was a lost soul who couldn't find his way in this world. He left us on his own terms.

Dave shared an unbreakable bond with his dog Rushdie, who is also grieving his loss. We are now in the midst of finding a place to live with Rushdie and our mom, so we may all live together.

His loss has left our family grieving in ways we never imagined. As we come to terms with his passing, we are faced with the difficult task of relocating, covering vet bills and arranging his final farewell. Our wish is to give him the heartfelt send-off that he deserves. The financial burden of funeral expenses is overwhelming for our family during this already challenging time.

This GoFundMe was made so that we may ask our family, friends, and community for their support, in helping us honor Dave's memory. Any contribution you can make will help to alleviate the financial strain and allow us to focus on grieving and remembering him fondly. Your compassion and generosity will make a meaningful difference, as we may ensure that Dave will rest peacefully in the place he loved to call home.
