David Jahn Memorial Scholarship

Donation protected
One of David Jahn's great loves was being on the water.  Sailing was a part of who he was for all of his life--from his small dinghy in Queens, NY--to his Flying Dutchman in Seattle, WA.   His passion for maritime history and the art of sailing was evident to all that knew him, and sharing that passion with others was just as important.

The David Jahn Memorial Sailing Scholarship is a fund dedicated to providing opportunities for underserved kids of color to take part in sailing camps, learn sailing skills and to join sailing teams.  In partnering with the Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing Center, we hope to reach youth all over the Greater Seattle Area who might someday grow to have a passion for sailing the way David did.

The Mount Baker Boating Advisory Council is honored to accept this gift and preserve David Jahn’s legacy.  Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center operates through a partnership between the non-profit Boating Advisory Council and Seattle Parks and Recreation.  Mount Baker’s mission is to provide safe and fun opportunities on the water for all residents of the Greater Seattle Area.    Scholarship funds such as this are an important part of the Center’s goal of providing quality small craft programming to all residents, regardless of circumstances.
