Dave's Stella Adler Fund.

Hi, my name is Dave McCarthie. I'm an aspiring Actor and Singer from Melbourne Australia.  In July 2017 I auditioned for one of the most prestigious acting schools in the world; the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City. I am beyond thrilled and honoured to announce that I was accepted into the Three year Acting conservatory course which will commence this September. I know this will be an experience of a life time and hopefully the beginning of a professional acting career. 

Some of the incredible alumni of Stella Adler include Marlon Brando, Kevin Costner, Salma Hayek, Mark Ruffalo, Robert De Niro, Benecie Del Toro, Warren Beatty and many more wonderful Academy Award winning actors.

My story starts in 2014 after a number debilitating concussion-related injuries I was introduced to an Acting coach and mentor Charles R Slucki who took me on pro-bono. Charles taught me to act as well as how to figure out what sort of man I wanted to be. He helped me get my first acting gig as well as an agent and he always said to me that for my training in acting I would be best suited to training in America and we picked the Stella Adler as the place that I wanted to attend and we planned to audition in 2016. Unfortunately heading into 2016 Charles very suddenly passed away while on holidays. This shook me and I spent 2016 trying to figure out my next move in life. I decided to attend a 1 year Musical Theatre course at Left Leg Studios in Albert Park and under the tutelage of some of Australia's best working professionals such as Dana Jolly and Michael Ralph. 6 weeks out from our end of year showcase I broke my neck in a dance class, an injury which nearly left me quadriplegic. I worked hard than ever and end up singing at the showcase and even more incredibly dancing. 

 Over the time that I attend this course I will be living in New York City full-time attending approximately 30 hours of class time a week. I am asking for your support to help me over this time. The course fees alone are $47,000USD and there are also the costs of airfares, the F1 student visa. as well as living and accommodation costs for the duration of the time I am there. As an Australian citizen, I am unable to get a US work visa which means that I cannot get a part-time job whilst be studying to support myself in the US, therefore any support you could give me I would be so grateful for.

I am saving furiously to try and raise money myself whilst I am still in Australia and I am also incredibly grateful for the support that my family is giving me but I know that I need further assistance to be able to pursue this dream. I've been acting as my Mums fulltime career for years but now she's been giving the support she needs so now this is my time to throw everything I have into my passion. Really any help I can get through the generosity of people reading this would be truly inspiring and would certainly make a difference.
