Daves Medical Housing

I want to tell you about a private struggle one of our own is going through that almost no one knows about and only a few of us can even imagine. If you have ever been close to someone with Cancer you know it changes them and the people around them.

I have known Dave Mastroni for 10 years, and like most of us that know him, consider him more than a just a work friend. Dave has a humorous and thoughtful way about him that draws you in. He is one of the good guys you can always count on… Now he needs us.

Dave has never smoked or used any type of tobacco product but has oral cancer. A cancer so aggressive they will need to remove part of his tongue and lymph nodes and use chemo in order to beat it.

Dave doesn’t have much; he lives in the hotel he currently manages. He doesn’t have a wide circle of friends due to the fact that he has moved around so frequently.

Dave will need surgery in the next two weeks. He will need recovery time near his hometown doctors at UAB, followed by chemo treatments here in Birmingham for about 6 weeks.

I am asking for help on his behalf, he doesn’t know (because he would never ask for it and I know he needs it) to help raise some money for his living expenses here in Birmingham as he takes a leave of absence from work.

We have found him short term housing within walking distance of the hospital for $2800 per month. He will need two months for recovery plus food money. All total he will need about $6500 to get through this
