Dave's Covid-19 Marathon Fundraiser
Tax deductible
On May 4th, 2020 I was due to run in the BMO Vancouver Marathon. I have trained consistently for this race. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic this race was cancelled.
At the same time Kawkawa Camp where I am the Program Director lost all their Spring season rentals. The loss is estimated to be somewhere in the region of $160 000. We still hope to have summer camps but we need to raise some support to ensure we are able to continue operating and providing the same service we always have.
On May 3rd, 2020 I still plan to run the marathon distance. I will run this with a friend (while social distancing). I won't have the help of the usual marathon aid stations that provide water and other fuel and will not have anyone cheering me on as I complete this distance. My goal will not be to run a fast time but rather my goal will be to complete the distance in order to support Kawkawa Camp in their ongoing work with children.
I am asking if you are able will you consider sponsoring me on this venture so that Kawkawa can be supported in their ongoing work and ministry.

Run Information
Dave will run the full 26.2 miles / 42.2 kilometres at Hope Airport. The roads around the outside of the airport form a 4k loop. Completing a full marathon on this course will involve Dave running a total of 10.5 laps of the loop. While this may prove monotonous it will also allow Dave to set up his own water stations en-route as unlike competitive, organized marathons this one will not have any aid stations, medical support, supporters or parties at the finish line.
