On June 30, 2017, Dave was diagnosed with Diabetes, after many complications, discovered he had Sepsis. Unfortunately, his medical team was unable to stop the infection before it began attacking his limbs. Dave had to be transported from Parsons, KS to Joplin, MO to undergo emergency surgery to amputate his right foot to stop the infection from attacking his vital organs.
After getting the infection under control, Dave had to undergo a second surgery to complete the amputation right below his knee, to prep for a future prosthetic.
Over the next several months, Dave will have to go through extensive inpatient rehab to learn how to navigate his life as an amputee.
While Dave will be going through rehab, Stacie and family will be working diligently to remodel their home to make it handicap accessible.
