Darrell Davis, a loving father of 6 and grandfather of 12, suffered a devastating injury while playing with 3 of his grandchildren. In a freak accident he broke his neck in 3 places. This once able-bodied 52 year old is now confined to a powered wheelchair . He is beginning the long task of therapy in the hope of regaining the use of his limbs .
Darryl maintains a household for himself, a son, and his elderly mother. As the principle bread winner he is faced with the overwhelming expenses of hospital bills, rehabilitation therapy, and normal household expenses. Darryl has applied for long-term disability with Social Security. However, his short-term disability insurance from work has expired and he is still waiting for Social Security to approve his claim.
$10,000 will cover Darryl's expenses until the end of the year when Social Security is expected to begin paying his claim.
