Darren was born and raised in Orange County, California. He's a father of 2 boys ages 23 and 9. He had a successful career in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Air-crewman and is proud to have been a part of Southern Watch operations in the Persian Gulf. After multiple conflicts including Somalia, Kosovo refugee support in Albania and the second Gulf War, Darren was named Sailor of the Year in Mildenhall, England and Runner Up for the entire northern European region the same year.
After the Navy he brushed the dust of his vocal cords and started performing in community productions throughout Orange County and Los Angeles. Entertaining audiences became a passion of his for many years.
Darren now works for TRAFFIK, an advertising agency in Orange County, where he utilizes his vast digital knowledge to develop large scale websites and digital platforms for local, national and global companies.
Recently, Darren battled a persistent cough and decided to have it checked out. After x-rays, CT scans and a biopsy, Darren was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid cancer that metastasized into both lungs and some lymph nodes in his chest cavity.
The cancer has become poorly differentiated which makes it more difficult to treat. After a recent PET scan, it was discovered that the nodules have grown fairly rapidly in only a month. The Oncologist has recommended Chemotherapy because of the aggressive nature of poorly differentiated cells.
Darren has maintained a positive attitude regarding the cancer. He attributes that strength to his trust in God. "If it is his will, he will put the right people in my path and help me make the correct choices regarding my treatments", Darren says.
Darren looks at this as a test of his moral character and an opportunity to be an example to others that face adversity. He is humbled by the amount of people that have offered their support and encouragement, but his battle is just beginning.
