Darren Higgins Medical Expenses ICU
Donation protected
Early on August 21st, 2017 Darren Higgins, devoted father of three, was sent to the University of Tennessee Medical Center ICU with an extensive tear in his descending aorta. We were told he should be in ICU for a few days and could then manage the condition at home with medications, but as of today, a week later, he remains in ICU as they continue working to stabilize his condition; it has proven more serious and involved than initially thought.
Darren was engaged and set to wed his fiancée, Penny, mother of two, early next month. On August 23rd they were married in the hospital ICU, finalizing what they had already committed to in their hearts: “…for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health...”
Missed days of work for Penny and Darren, mounting financial costs, and uncertain health and financial future are weighing heavily on this new family. Together they support 5 children whose ages range from 11 to 16. It is our desire to see that this couple, who have sacrificed greatly for their children and each other, and who are faced so unexpectedly with incredible hardship, get the support they need to begin their life together without disastrous financial burden. Thank you for continued prayers, encouragement, and generosity.
