Darlington Police Dept. Dog Rescue

Donation protected
On August 22, 2017, the Darlington Police Department removed four dogs (terrier-style/Chiwawa) from a home in the community following a report of neglect.  The home was in deplorable conditions and the dogs had numerous health-related concerns that warranted their seizure.  The home has since been deemed uninhabitable and the dog owner has relinquished custody of the dogs to the police.

Initial veterinarian assessments have revealed the dogs do not necessarily need to be euthanized.  With proper care, they may enjoy a full recovery and be adopted.  DPD has partnered with Center Hill Veterinary Clinic and the Green County Human Society to make this happen; however, at a cost.

DPD does not have  a budget for this sort of case and is asking area animal lovers to consider helping out.  The estimate we have been provided to care for and help these dogs find quality homes is $2,000.

We invite you to consider helping these dogs recover and find new homes.  We realize there are more affordable solutions (euthanization) but feel this is the right thing to do as it is not the fault of the dogs they are in this predicament.

The need is immediate.  We appreciate your consideration.
