I am trying to raise money for my dear friend and business partner, Darla Billings-Clark. I would not be where I am today without her. She brought me into this career as a Realtor, offering me 26 years of her unbeliveable knowledge, contacts and clientele. I honestly don't know of another agent who has offered up the opportunity she gave me. She gave me her full trust and belief that we could make this work as a team and we have done wonderful things. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this woman. She is a true giver of herself and her time and money to all who need it. I have been overwhelmed by the number of supporters she has, but completely understand why. She is truly that amazing of a woman. Even though battling for her life, she still tries to come to work as much as possible. Those that know her, know "That's Darla". She's a real fighter through and through. Now for the backstory into why we need your help.
Earlier this year, Darla, a friend to many, a colleague, a daughter, mother and wife, was having considerable pain in her right leg. Multiple tests revealed she has terminal stage 4 cancer. It started in her lung, metastasized to her brain and spine. The tumor in her spine had completely wrapped itself within the nerve roots, virtually crushing the nerves, causing the extreme pain in her leg and lower back. Since the diagnosis, Darla has surgery to remove 2 vertebrae and approx 90% of the tumor around her spine. She's had radiation treatment for the brain tumor. No chemo or radiation treatment could be started for her back or lung until the back surgeries fully healed.
Darla is well known for her love of dogs. Wherever Darla is, Jia, her rescue Schnauzer is close by. She's spent countless hours working for the Top Dog fundraisers. Darla has been a realtor in the area for the past 26 years. Along with her husband, Steve of 37 years, she has 2 sons, Conor & Tyler, and soon she'll have a new daughter-in-law, Kat Dennis, Conor's fiance.
They are fighting this monster one day at a time, all financial assistance will be greatly appreciated to aid with expenses.
Also, there is a benefit scheduled on Saturday, November 11th to be held at Oak Lane of Oregon, 3261 S Daysville Rd, Oregon IL from noon to 8pm. We will have a DJ, bags tournament, silent auction, live auctions a 50/50 and other fun things. Food will be available for $5 a plate along with a cash bar.
