Dark Divide Refugee Ride
Tax deductible
To be honest, I think it's kind of silly to ask other people to "sponsor" my recreational activities, so here's what I'm suggesting: I'm going to add up the money I would have spent on race fees and event registration for the 2020 season and donate it to this worthy cause. If you'd like to join me on this ride, I ask you to consider doing likewise.
The Dark Divide is the wilderness area between Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. This will be a tough day in the saddle - I set out to design a route that would absorb all the energy that I would have normally put into a whole race season. It is very similar in length and elevation gain to the famous Belgian Waffle Ride in Colorado. It will be amazingly scenic, and includes sections of asphalt, lots of gravel and some mild singletrack through the Plains of Abraham. I will be starting in the pre-dawn darkness and may well finish well after sunset.
Here is the route .
Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA) is a local grassroots non-profit that provides wraparound services to refugees and immigrants from around the world. They are an amazing organization that makes a huge difference in peoples' lives, and they've been hit incredibly hard by both the Covid-19 pandemic and the federal government's policies over the last four years. I can guarantee that your money will be well-spent to fund important, direct aid.
