Support Danny's Traumatic Brain Injury Journey

On Saturday, July 20, 2019, my one and only brother, 31 years old, had a traumatic car related accident that landed him in the intensive care unit (ICU) in critical condition.
Paramedics had to helicopter my brother to the emergency department as a code: full trauma. He was intubated in the helicopter due to respiratory shock and when he got to the emergency department they worked fast to get a CT scan of his brain then took him into emergency surgery to help relieve the pressure to his brain.
When my family and I were able to finally see him in the Trauma Neuro Intensive Care Unit (TNICU) he was heavily sedated and on a ventilator to breathe for him.
Our biggest concerns at this time are the pressure that’s being created by the swelling of his brain (ICP), blood pressure & his fevers. Even with the strong medications such as Propofol, Fentanyl, Ativan, Morphine, Sodium Chloride 23.4% and Vecuronium (paralytic) he has had fluctuating brain pressures (ICP).
He’s had 2 surgeries now, possibly a 3rd in the future & due to uncontrollable increased pressure levels on July 23, 2019 they have put him in a medically induced coma.
The trauma doctors and the neurological surgeon have told my family and I that we will not know the severity of the damage until he starts to “wake up” and it’s truly a waiting period at this point. Because the damage is to the brain the outcome is unknown and the medical staff are unable to state whether he will be okay or not. Only time will tell. However, they have been clear that we have a really, really rough and long journey ahead of us.
