Danyale’s Journey Back

Donation protected
I am putting together this Go Fund me page for our dearest friend Danyale Webb. If you have ever interacted with her, you know that she would bend over backwards to help any one of us. She has always put other people first, and now it is time for us to help her out!

Her Back Story
Danyale has a caring and compassionate heart that she follows by volunteering her time to take care of those in need. She has worked tirelessly for the Special Olympics refereeing games so special needs kids have a time to shine in the spotlight. She has been a camp counselor and volunteer for years at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Her mission in life was always to take care of those that needed a little extra help. While holding down her full time job, she took on an additional job with the Parks of Arlington being an umpire for kids. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for the kids that were playing. Take a look at the video below that the Parks of Arlington put together for her to celebrate the difference she was making. I’m sure we have all experienced the love and comfort she has provided to us in our times of need.

Becoming a mother was the best day of her life! She always loved kids, but when her son entered her life, it was another level she didn’t even know existed. He was biologically the son of one of her close friends that wasn’t able to care for him, and Danyale worked tirelessly to provide a safe and comfortable environment for him. Her son, James, finally had found a stable home. Danyale knew that in order to protect James she needed to legally adopt him, and she spent a majority of her savings on legal costs and court procedures to establish herself as his mother. When James’ sister, Riley, was born, Danyale was ecstatic to meet her and to adopt another child. Having these two blessings in her life helped her understand true unconditional love. As they have grown, Danyale could not be prouder of them; Unfortunately a past brain injury while umping at a softball game has lead them to a desperate place.

The Bad News
In March of 2017, Danyale had a stroke while at home, in bed. She didn’t know what it was, but she felt odd. She had lost some of her mobility, equilibrium, and her vision had been impacted. The doctors gave her a MRI and began the rehabilitation process. She took short term disability at work during the rehabilitation process, but she shut out her friends and family. She was embarrassed about the stroke, and what capabilities she had lost. Her hope was to regain these skills and to bounce back as the Danyale we all knew and loved; to never have to  show us what had happened to her or how she has suffered in silence. Once her FMLA ended the doctor would not release her back to work, and she had to resign her position. She still wouldn’t admit that she had become permanently disabled, and therefor tried to do any odd jobs that she could come up with to make ends meet.

In February of 2018 she had two massive strokes over the course of a single week. With these two strokes, she lost her ability to stand, walk, speak, and to focus with her eyes. Her blood pressure was erratic, and she began having troubles with her short term memory. Since these two strokes, she has had several more strokes, but she continues to push through and improve on her mobility, speech, and vision. She has had over 10 MRI’s, and she can now walk short distances with a cane. Her speech is slow, but coherent, and you can still see that love for her kids in her eyes. She takes countless medications throughout the day, and is in need of assistance with various activities of daily living. Her doctor told her the number one thing to do was to stay away from stress, but while she has been waiting for approval from the government on disability, she can’t help but feel anxious as the bills pile up and cut off notices are received.

Danyale Needs Our Help
It has been a long road to get her to this stage where she is now willing to ask for help. I know that each of you has a fond memory of Danyale that comes to mind as you read this. I want you all to know that she is still Danyale, but she is struggling. She needs our help. Her medical bills have devastated her savings and Medicaid was just recently approved. Even with Medicaid being in place several of her healthcare providers won't accept it, and some of the required prescriptions she has to take daily are not being covered. Once her disability gets approved, she will have some income, but it will hardly be enough to make rent. The best part of her day is when she gets to spend time with her kids, and although she will never fully recover, she wants to get strong enough to take care of them and to continue to  show them how much she loves them.

Let’s take some of this stress off of her. Please consider donating to help get her and her family through this tough time. Any amount helps, and I know that it will make a world of difference to her. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you are not able to donate, please send her a kind word of encouragement to let her know how much you care.
