Danny and Joanne Adams

Joanne's issue started a year ago with an emergency spinal cord surgery and she was diagnosed with CES or Cauda Equina Syndrome (this is when the spinal cord is crushed and nerves are damaged, sometimes permanently). 

This syndrome  has left Joanne with almost everything numb from the waist down on her right side. She also had what is called drop foot, where she is unable to move her foot up. She was unable to get physical therapy then, and needs it more now. Danny and Joanne thought they had insurance at the time of the emergency, but found out they did not. Danny and Joanne are over $45,000 in debt and expect more as she needs followup in physical therapy and  more surgery.  At this time, she wears a brace on her leg, she has no control of her foot or ankle. Walking is complicated. She uses a cane, or sometimes her  service dog to help walk and balance. Because she is so weak in her lower extremities, she falls easily and quite often. Normal things like feeling both her legs, bending over, carrying things, even simple things like  trying to get dressed without falling over is now a way of life.  When Danny is gone on the road doing IAC contests, he has to have someone close by to help her in case she does fall and can’t get up or hurts herself. Danny has worked in the Aviat Aircraft service department and has helped many IAC members (and other pilots) at airshows and contests he travels to.  Any and all help is greatly appreciated, let’s do whatever we can to lend Danny and Joanne a helping hand. The goal is set low compared to their needs and losses so far, but we can raise the goal amount as we reach this one.
