Danita Lewis Transplant Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Late in the evening of August 15th, 2013, Danita Lewis was
rushed into surgery for a liver transplant, at the Kansas University Medical
Center in Kansas City. Although her surgery seems to have been successful so
far, Danita has been unable to work and will be facing an extended recovery
period where working will not be possible. Her lost wages, along with the huge
burden of her medical and hospital bills will put tremendous stress on the
Lewis family. Danita was afflicted by a rare form of a liver disease called
Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC), which slowly destroys the bile ducts of the
liver. Although this may have been slowly affecting her for a long time, no
symptoms showed up until late May 2013. The medical community has not
discovered what causes PBC, and only the cure is a transplant. We are all so
incredibly thankful for the organ donor who gave their life in order to give
Danita a new chance for a healthy life. This page was created to help Mark, the assistant bowling coach for Wichita State University & Danita Lewis, an office associate for Wal-Mart, financially recover from a life altering medical situation.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!
