Daniela's Daily Use Chair

Nine years ago I got sick with a condition called transverse myelitis, from then on my life changed completely. At first I was a full on quadriplegic but thanks to a lot of people who helped me with my physical therapy, I regained function of my arms and legs. Even though I'm able to stand I still need walking aids to help me around.

I've been learning a lot about disability in these past few years. Recently I learned that wheelchairs have different uses. One is for hospital use others are for daily use. The one that I have been using is a hospital chair. I was loaned a daily use chair and have become aware of the importance of using the proper wheelchair.

A daily use chair is like getting the full use of my legs once again it's completely different, it's easier, more comfortable and just plain better.


There is one thing... it is a lot more expensive, way more expensive! This is why I am reaching out to the world to see if I can get some help to afford my own personal use weelchair. 


I need to start living my independent life once again. I've lived the last 9 years of my life using a wheelchair that is not letting me get as far as I would love to and has been limiting to achieve my goals and dreams.

I've also been documenting the importance of inclusive infrastructure in YouTube videos. What I've come to realize is that the people who have watched them like them because I show them why a plane ramp is so important rather than just saying it. Moving around with any disability is hard, especially in a place with so little infrastructure. I am starting to believe that maybe this is the reason why all this happened and I am meant to make a difference. I'ld like show people that life goes on and I could roll a little faster and easier with the right chair.
