Daniel's Iron Man powerchair
Donation protected
I'm Daniel's mum. Daniel was born at 27 weeks, diagnosed at a year old with cerebral palsy. He's now 12 and was diagnosed 2 years ago as being autistic too. Daniel is a really happy lad, anyone who meets him tells us what a remarkable boy he is. Daniel currently has a self propelling wheelchair which he handles really well (and because of this, the NHS won't provide any funding towards a powerchair as they have provided his existing chair), but as he's getting older and bigger, he's finding it harder to propel himself whilst out and about and of course it's harder for us to push him too. Having a power chair would mean so much for Daniel. We'd be able to do more family outdoor activities, go to the woods and walk the dog etc. It'll give Daniel far more independence especially as he goes into his teenage years and then on into adulthood. Daniel had major surgery on his hips, legs and tibia in January and February of this year. This surgery will hopefully remove any discomfort Daniel has in his legs (due to high tone) and will result in him being able to weightbear and eventually one day be able to walk so a walker is also on the cards in the near future too. Daniel is pictured in the power chair he would like (he calls it his Iron Man chair due to it being red), you can see just how happy he is. We currently have secured £5,000 sponsorship from one charity but there's a shortfall of just over £2,000. If we're lucky enough to exceed our target then any monies will then go towards fundraising for the walker that's specific for Daniel's needs. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hope you can help Daniel get his wish.
