In Memory of Daniel Wayne Keniston

Daniel Wayne Keniston came in to our lives kicking and screaming on September 18th at a small, but happy 5lbs 11oz. He was strong and ready to fight hard for his little life and he gave it his all.

Sadly he left us last night, October 16th. He left behind two heartbroken parents, Kevin & Kiki Keniston.  He was loved by the Tiggs Family, Keniston Family and truly anyone that had a moment with the little guy. He was sweet, beautiful, tough and feisty.

As the Auntie writing this, please note I am not providing every medical detail of his journey.  He went through multiple surgeries, procedures and was connected to so many machines I can't even begin to describe it or provide entirely accurate details.

He was diagnosed with a rare heart condition before he was born, it left him without a pulmonary artery valve. He was admitted to the Cardiac ICU at Children's a day after he was born. Since that time he has gone through multiple surgeries and procedures, at times he was making progress but sadly it didn't last. After the last surgery he suffered a major stroke which left him with severe brain and physical damage and put him back on life support for the second time.
He tried his hardest and so did the amazing team at Children's

His parents were presented with two options. They could subject their son to more surgeries that provided little hope he could make it through them and subject him to something that would barely resemble a life or they could let him find freedom.

With the guidance and support of the entire Surgical Team at Children's, their family and friends they chose to let him slip off and find the peace he so much deserved. They were able to see their son on his last day looking peaceful, calm and like a comfy little baby. They were able to dress him in his own clothes and take pictures to hang on to for their entire lives.  The smiles are pained, but I know they are genuine. They were simply happy to hold their son for the first time since he was born and to cherish those last moments him. Just seeing his face was beautiful.

He will always be in our hearts and thoughts, and so will his parents.

I wanted to set this up for them to help provide a little bit of support and financial relief with the medical bills that are bound to come. If you feel compelled any donation is appreciated! However I do understand that you may not be able to, I have been in those times myself. We ask for kind words and positive thoughts.

Next time you are at the grocery store and they ask if you want to donate a dollar to Children's....do it...I can't even begin to describe what an amazing group of people they are!! Its not a place anyone really wants to be, but you know you are in the best hands when you are. They truly care about the kids and the families, they deserve every penny they can get.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and our families appreciate all the love and support!
