Daniel needs our help!

Daniel is a ray of light. Many of you know him from his many years as owner of Primitivo Wine Bistro in Venice. Others know him from his timeworking as a sales rep with The Henry Wine Group and Chambers & Chambers – perhaps you have met him on the floor, assisting you with wine at The Wine House LA.

On September 2nd, Daniel suffered a serious and life altering stroke (which may been a result of a clot forming after his arm surgery). He was transported from one hospital to another to receive a thrombectomy to remove the blood clot. The stroke cut off oxygen from his left side of the brain, this area disabled his speech and mobility on the right side of the body. The procedure was successful but caused a hemorrhage that lasted 2 weeks.  Fortunately, his brain healed the hemorrhage, however for a maximum recovery, he must receive intense therapies (physical, speech, cognitive, occupational) immediately.  The next 6 months in his recovery are crucial since this is the ideal "recovery" time for a stroke survivor.

His family is currently searching for private therapists/caregiver who can assist getting Daniel back on his feet. In addition to all hospital expenses, his family needs to now take on more help to care for him in his home in Los Angeles for several months as he recovers. Daniel has always been generous with his time and heart and has been a loyal friend to many of us. We have set up this page for his many friends and family who would like an opportunity to give a helping hand.

Below is a list of items where your recommendations or referrals would be greatly appreciated:

1. Caregivers – Recommendations in the Encino area.

2. Any other resources or information that you think might help Daniel through this process. Could be stroke related, fun recovery games to play, even if you've had a stroke experience and want to share. Anything you think would help … even if it’s a good joke.

3. Phone Calls/Facetime/Visits - The health benefits of seeing a familiar face is beyond measure. Engagement is key to rebuild Daniel's neural pathways. Due to COVID this is challenging but with the proper precautions it is possible.

Like every vote, every dollar counts.  And the winner will be all of us when we see Daniel back on the floor, escorting us to the wine of our dreams! Please share with your friends, his friends, anyone who's able to give a helping hand.

Thank you all.
