“There is a time for every purpose under heaven, a time to laugh, a time to weep, a time to mourn, and there is a time to dance.”
There has been so much hate on the street and so much concern of, "will I or my family be next?" It's been one thing after the next and it's been taking a toll on the latino community as well as anyone who is "different."
But as Eva Longoria recently said, "This message isn't about policy or political parties. It's about love and decency, and it's about bringing humanity back into the conversation."
We may or may not have the same political views and that’s okay. This event isn’t about that. It’s a celebration of ourselves, our culture, our skin and in our differences. That’s what makes our country beautiful.
What we’re doing:
I will be hosting a celebration of our latino community in early 2020. It will be a night of music and dancing, performances and special guests!
The money we make from ticket sales will all be donated to support non-profit causes such as Families Belong Together, RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, and KIND (Kids in Need of Defense)
Why have I chosen RAICES, KIND and Families Belong Together to support?
I chose those three because we are all either immigrants or descendants of one. Most of us have moved to the United States for a reason, “Opportunity”, whether it’s related to pursuing the American Dream or seeking for asylum. We are a land of immigrants and those are our brothers and sisters at the border.
My hope is to make this event a place to bring people together and remind them what United States really means. The country with the word, “United” in its label.
We got good news and what will the $5,000 cover
The venue we are working with in Hollywood has agreed to give us the space for free because they believe in what we’re doing. It can host up to 3,500 people from the main room, to the second floor VIP, to the outdoor space and even the parking space.
The $5,000 we are looking to raise will cover our security team, production, and cleaning.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
