Help Aid Dan's Recovery!

Dan Dykema is an extremely beloved friend, father, and husband who curently lives in Morganfield, Kentucky. It's here that he recently married the love of his life, Holly Dykema, and became the father of 2 young boys, Dawson and Brayden . Dan is an extremely hard worker; working both day and night-shifts  as a deckhand on a Tugboat at Trelleborg Automotive, in order to ensure that his family is provided with all of the wants and needs that they deserve.

Getting to this point hasn't been the easiest of things to do, as Dan has suffered from consistent nocturnal seizures over the last 5 years. Through countless trials including medical exams and doctors visits (not to mention hospital bills!), Dan finally found an effective treatment for this in Lacosamide (Vimpat).  Trust me - this was a breath of fresh air for all of his friends/family, as the process of finding the right medication was extremely long and drawn out. Despite this struggle, Dan continues to push on and is determined to move forward as an active member in the workforce.

Once the right medication was found to treat his medical issues,  everything seemed to be going as normal.  This GoFundMe, however, is NOT set up for Dan's recovery related to his seizures...

On March 22nd Dan began to experience a crippling headache which forced him to go to the hospital for further examination. After a few MRI's and other various tests, doctors were able to locate a brain tumor which resided right next to his brain stem. This tumor is believed to be linked to Dan's suffering of seizures over the last half decade.  He was then transferred to IU Methodist hospital in Indianapolis, IN, where some of the best doctors in the industry for brain surgery can be found.  It was here that Dan received the news that the tumor itself could not be removed due to its location, but the pressure needed to be relieved, so surgery was required nonetheless.  We are still awaiting the results on whether this tumor is benign or not.

Thankfully, Dan's surgery went extremely well and he is now back home recovering next to his wife and kids in Kentucky. The battle doesn't end here though, as he will be recovering for 6-8 weeks and will not be able to go to work during this time.  Additionally, he will be facing some hefty hospital bills in the near future.  Even through this recovery period Dan has refused to give up on providing for his family, and has recently  reached out to various contacts for other forms of work.

What I am asking for, is that anyone who knows Dan, has been affected/knows anyone that has been affected by brain ailments, or simply has the means to help through this recovery period, please donate whatever possible. Our goal is to reach $5,000 during Dan's recovery, but in this situation any amount at all is helpful. Additionally, if anyone donates $50.00 or more, then Dan will send you a hand written letter showing his gratitude for your kindness.

Thank you all so much!!!
