Daly City Community Response to Typhoons in the PH

Tax deductible
Support our youth-led efforts in Daly City to fundraise in support of communities displaced and impacted by typhoons in the Philippines!

In less than one month, the Philippines has been hit by multiple typhoons—Typhoon Molave (Quinta), Super Typhoon Goni (Rolly) and Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco).  Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced, evacuating their communities that have been buried under water and mud.  From Northern Luzon to the Visayas, so many of our kababayan are in need of genuine relief efforts and donations to continue fighting to survive.  Federal and local government responses have not met the needs of the people, and grassroots organizations have largely been conducting local relief work.  For more information about this current situation, watch this video report from Rappler (November 14, 2020): https://youtu.be/TuzFOmu9UNY

We are joining the Kapit Bisig Relief efforts led by Kabataan Alliance, an alliance of Filipino American youth and student organizations and coursing all donations through the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) to benefit grassroots organizations in the Philippines conducting local relief work.  Our local organizations putting on this community response are CHANGE SSF, Filipino Barkada at Westmoor High School, Anakbayan Daly City, and PAC Daly City.

Kabataan Alliance, previously Kapit Bisig Kabataan Network, was originally formed in response to Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 and helped NAFCON raise more than $1 million in donations for impacted communities in the Philippines.  Both NAFCON and Kabataan Alliance also regularly sends volunteers on medical and relief and rehabilitation trips to marginalized communities in need.

These donations are being coordinated through the partnership between NAFCON, Kabataan Alliance, and Citizens’ Disaster Response Network, a nationwide network of 17 people’s organizations conducting community-based disaster management.  For more information on how donations are being utilized, visit NAFCON’s website at https://tinyurl.com/2020typhoons or their Instagram, @NAFCONUSA.
