Hello,
Meet Dallin Gunderson. My sister, Jaleen and her husband Trent, along with five other siblings welcomed the newest addition to their family on February 8, 2015.
The family was excited to bring their little guy home, but it was very evident within a few days of being home that something was wrong. Dallin was struggling to breathe while attempting to eat. He would turn blue, and pass out. Dallin was admitted to the hospital in Rexburg, ID and the tests began.
Tests showed that Dallin has PFO (Patent Foramin Ovale) . He continued to struggle to breathe on his own when eating and was hooked up to oxygen and a feeding tube. The doctors attempted to stabilize Dallin, but after crashing the decision to send him to Primary Children's in Salt Lake City was made. Jaleen and Trent were discouraged, but hopeful that they would find answers.
Many different medical teams have assessed Dallin and they continue to be perplexed by this little man. He has had multiple tests, an MRI, scope, x-rays and ultrasounds done to find answers. He has spent the majority of his short little life in a hosiptal hooked up to machines and a feeding tube to keep him breathing and his belly full.
The scope done on his throat indicated that anatomically, everything should be working properly, but they found Dallin lacks sensation that would cause him to swallow. However, the MRI showed no neurological abnormalities.
Still seeking answers and a plan that will allow Dallin to return home safely, Jaleen remains with him in SLC while Trent holds the fort down at home. The amount of medical bills is increasing each day Dallin spends in the hospital and it is becoming overwhelming for this family to manage. Any donations will help decrease the financial burden they feel at this time and help them focus on bringing Dallin home.
