Anton Irek Memorial Fund

  Anton Irek was  born on July  15, 1931 and died on August 19 2014. He had a heart attack in June and had open heart surgery. Unfourtanetly there were many complications. Though recovery looked promising and he looked to be improving in therapy, medical issues continued to plague Anton.
  This is an extradonary man who has done so much for so many people. He is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
  For over 60 years he has shared his passion for music. He was a great piano teacher and was loved by all his students. Anton was born in Croatia, immigrated to Canada in 1957, and then to America in 1967.  During Croatia's war for indepednence one of the many remarkable things he did was bring attention to their plight by going on a documented 40 day hunger strike.
  Donations made to this memorial fund will help his loving wife Tomasa Irek pay for funeral services. Any additional funds will be donated in his honor to the non profit organazation Music For Life Foundation that brings music and art to disadvantaged kids.
