Hey family and friends As you know, I'm Daisy White And I am hoping to get to South Korea in 2023! Im part of Penycae Explorers/scout group. I have been lucky enough to be selected to represent Unit 10, Dinas Emrys, in the World Scout Jamboree, 2023. I have been in scouting for a very long time and am honoured to be selected as 1 of the 36 representatives from Unit 10. I went through a written application process, and then a interview day where they watched us complete team building activities and marked us on stuff such as effort, ideas and contributions e.t.c. And then we had to create a quick 40-60 second video of ourselves explaining why we wanted to go. After a long and nail biting process I was chosen to represent Unit 10, Dinas Emrys, in the World Scout Jamboree, 2023!! In Summer 2023, over 40,000 Scouts from all around the globe will gather in the South of Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree; an event that only happens once every four years. Each time the jamboree is situated in a different country and has a duration of three weeks. This trip is extra special as it marks the 100th year of the World Scout Jamboree! I would love nothing more than to be there representing my home country, Wales.  During my time in the WSJ i hope to make friendships with people from multiple cultures as well as participating in a sustainable and fun filled programme of activities during the days we attend. This trip will be eye opening and life changing, i am so excited! I would like to go to the 25th world scout jamboree because I believe it Is an amazing opportunity to travel with my unit with people from all around wales, and to be able to share this once in a life time experience with my friends. I would also like to learn about people from different countries all around the world. I have been practicing taekwondo since I was 6, Taekwondo is a Korean martial art, I am proud to be a 2nd Dan black belt. Taekwondo is Koreas national sport and practiced world wide at all ages and levels. It would be a fantastic experience to be able to go to Korea to see the birthplace of taekwondo and to explore the country where General Choi Hong-hi came from. I would like to learn even more about the country (and obviously take a photo of me doing a taekwondo move to show my instructor ) I am so excited to be able to travel with scouts THAT FAR away from home! It is a once in a lifetime experience, I’m very lucky to get to go to the WSJ. I am eagerly waiting to meet and learn about the culture religion and language of all the scouts who will be at the jamboree, I am sure it will be challenging yet fun communicating with all my new friends. I am so honoured to be picked to attend the WSJ, and hope to do my family and friends proud! However, to attend the event i must fundraise £3,495! As if this isn't a lot to raise in just over a year, i also have some of my GCSES coming up, whilst also balancing fundraising! Despite this, i have decided to undertake this one in a life time challenge. I will work extremely hard to achieve my goal, And as you all know I’m very determined …. Any donations would be much appreciated! I will be fundraising A LOT! I will be doing car boot sales, bag packing, car washes, quizzes and many more. Your donations, big or small, would really help me to reach my Goal and attend the WSJ In 2023. If for some reason the WSJ doesn’t go ahead all donations will be used towards another camp or to penycae explorers! Daisy :) xxx
