Daisy's 30th Birthday Fundraiser

Hello! I'm Daisy and on the 3rd of November 2024, I will be celebrating my 30th birthday! As part of this special occasion, I want to try to raise £300 for Leicester Animal Rescue. Whilst this may seem like an ambitious target, every penny raised will contribute towards the costs of this amazing local charity.

As many of you know, one of the best things in my life is my cat, Meatball. In 2018, a stray calico cat was taken in by Leicester Animal Rescue. She wasn't very well cared for or looked after, and the team assumed that she was a stray, as she was very hungry, dirty and tired and no one claimed her. The team at the shelter called her Layla, and a few weeks later, she gave birth to a huge litter of kittens, even though she was only around 2 years old herself. In September of 2018, we went to see Layla's kittens, and one tiny, spiky cat made herself known to us. She had a heart murmur and was a bit smaller than her brothers and sisters, so she had to stay with the shelter a bit longer, but after a few weeks, Layla's Kitten No. 6 came home with us and became forever known as Meatball!

The shelter covered all of the medical costs for Meatball before we adopted her, organising her vaccinations, treatments, and paying for the additional veterinary bills for her heart murmur. Every day, they do this for so many animals. The team take in, care for and support animals who have found themselves without a home, feeding them, paying for their medical bills and loving them until they are adopted. This is why I have chosen to try to raise funds for this fantastic cause as part of my birthday celebrations this year.
