Home of 40 years destroyed by fire, please help

Donation protected
Hello. This is the first time I've done something like this. It is embarrassing and hard asking for help. But I want to help my Dad. He lost everything. We watched his home of 40 years burn. We've been trying to salvage anything we can find, but it's all smoke damaged. Anything remaining is full of oily soot. I never knew what "smoke damage" meant until now. The water that flooded the house to put out the fire is now frozen solid everywhere, because of the subzero winter. People have already been looting and vandalizing the house, almost immediately after the fire happened. It's infuriating and sad.

Mom and Dad raised me and my siblings there, and many pets. So many memories in that house. Any amount is appreciated. The funds will go to replacing clothes, kitchen items, living room items, laundry and cleaning supplies, pet supplies, bed and bath items, a vacuum, yard items, tools, and whatever household things he needs. Like I said, he lost everything. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

So, let me tell you what happened. I was supposed to take my daughter to Fargo for kids cooking camp, and treat her to a meal in a pretty little igloo. But the teacher had to reschedule the classes, and the igloo got cancelled because of the subzero temperatures. So we cancelled our trip and stayed at my Dad's in Fort Yates. My daughter loves her grandpa and kitties so much. We were watching tv, then the lights started going out one by one. Dad went to check the fuse box and came in yelling that the house was on fire. My child was terrified and crying. I told her to get her coat and get in the car. I grabbed as much as I could as the house started to fill with smoke. The cats ran and hid but I got them out. The fire spread so fast. The firemen seemed to take forever to get there. Dad and his friend Terry tried to use a bunch of fire extinguishers. They used to be firefighters together. The fire came out like a giant wave. I couldn't believe what was happening. The fire started around 9pm and they didn't get it put out until almost 2am. My Dad lost everything. He lived there for 40 years. My daughter's baby stuff is destroyed. I can't stop crying. I'm glad me and my daughter's trip got cancelled and we were there when the fire happened. Otherwise, my dad may have been sleeping and not have gotten out of the house, or the kitties either. My Dad's home is destroyed. My childhood home. My daughter's first home. We are devastated.
