Dad's Army 20/20 will be a year spent raising money by myself & my 9 year old son Harley doing lot's of different events throughout the year & getting other's involved. Any one is welcome to be a recruit into Dad's Army, in order to help raise as much money as we possibly can for both - Alzheimer's Society & Parkinsons UK. My Dad sadly suffered with both of these dreadful, heart breaking diseases over a period of 4 years, before Parkinsons ended up taking his life in January 2018. He went from a fully fit, happy, healthy & able bodied devoted Son, Husband, Dad & Grandad to being wheelchair bound less than 2 years after diagnosis. Meaning he couldn't walk, wash, dress & struggled to hold cutlery to feed himself. He also suffered memory loss & struggled to string full sentences together. This meant he ended up having 24/7 around the clock care at home by my Mum & carers in twice a day to help get him up & put him to bed. Watching your most loved one drift away in this manner day by day knowing there is nothing you can do to really help is the most heartbreaking thing in the world. So our aim is to raise as much awareness as possible. To contribute towards help find a cure & support other's & their families affected by either condition.
