Dade Thomas’s Studio Robbery

Donation protected
Hey friends, family, co workers, brothers and sisters in the faith, and everyone whom this may reach. I want to thank you for taking the time to read this part of my story.

As some of you may know, I am a musician making a living from playing music, however, I also support artists, give away free music tutorials to children and teach and mentor aspiring musicians. I have only been able to do this because over the years I have gradually built up a vast amount of musical equipment and created a musical hub with gear stored at my office space that I converted into a rehearsal/recording studio in Glasgow.

In the early hours of the morning on the 4th of September, much of my work spent building this creative premises was undone. I received a call and was informed that my entire studio space had been violently ransacked and majority of my equipment was stolen. From this robbery alone, equipment ranging from my iMac, to bass guitars, Electric guitar, audio interface, Drum machine, pedals, and even more, was stolen. This equipment was the culmination of over 10 years of hard work. Unfortunately, I was not insured, and it has now been made known to me that to make any sort of claim, many of these items - those bought second hand & those bought some years ago - cannot be covered without the purchasing receipt being provided. This has been particularly distressing as I no longer have any of the receipts for my equipment.

I am now beginning the process of rebuilding the space for myself and the community of musicians and artists that I work with. This turn of events has not only affected my livelihood and my income, but also my ability to be able to teach my students and mentor musicians effectively. I am in the difficult situation of having to start almost from scratch and find ways to fund this process, which is where I’m hoping everyone reading this could potentially play a part.

I am writing this is as an appeal to both the creative community and further afield to please help me rebuild not just simply a studio, but the creative hub and safe space that I had created free of charge for a lot of musicians alike- both young people and professionals, to grow and learn.

Any donation or share of my story would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time,
Dade Thomas
