Jonathan Chad Cardona "Baby J" was welcomed into this world by his daddy Johnny and his mommy Tammy on April 16, 2014.
While mommy was pregnant, they learned that he had complex heart defects and Heterotaxy Syndrome. Jonathan was delivered at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital due to the anticipation that he would require emergency heart sergery after delivery. Luckily, he did very well and only stayed in the Intensive Care Nursery for a week. After that, he was home with his mommy and daddy for mommy's birthday!
Unfortunately, Baby J took a turn for the worse on July 12, 2014. His O2 saturations were dropping to around 23% anytime he would get upset and he wasn't getting the necessary oxygen to his brain. Baby J was airlifted to UCSF for surgery. He battled through the first night with his mommy and daddy close by. He was then sedated and intubated (and hooked up to a ventilator) to better control his oxygen levels. On Wednesday July 16, 2014 (Daddy's birthday) he underwent his first open heart surgery. He recovered well and was sent home after a week.
A month later the family finds themselves back in the hospital with Baby J in what seems to be heart failure. Mommy has not been able to return to work so she can stay bedside. With daddy working and driving back in forth to see his family, this has caused a tremendous strain on the family's financial situation. Even though their world may have stopped, life around them continues.
We are asking for help to raise money for the family to aid in medical expenses and normal daily expenses during this hard time. No amount is too small. No help will be turned away.
