Please help us raise funds for Marcell (Marcy) Miranda, the mother of Braylen. As many of you know, Marcell left us on the night of Sunday, August 17th.
What was wrong with Marcell: She was battling sickle-cell anemia during her 27 years on earth. Throughout the last few months, she was also suffering from avascular necrosis, a disease which was deteriorating the left her with a severe limp. On top of that, she was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis recently. All of these illnesses kept Marcell suffering, especially the last few months.
What happened: She was in the hospital for a sickle-cell crisis and pain which we believed was related to the avascular necrosis. On Thursday, August 14th, she began to complain of an excruciating pain she never felt before; her entire body was hurting in ways the doctors could not understand. They ran multiple tests from Thursday to Saturday and still had no idea. On Sunday morning, her mother realized Marcell was actually sleeping for about 2 hours. After the two hours, she became concerned that Marcell was not being responsive. Within minutes, the room was filled with over a dozen nurses and Marcell was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Soon after, new tests revealed she was bleeding in her brain. At that point, they performed an emergency surgery on her brain to stop the bleeding. Although she survived the operation, she was still in critical condition in the ICU. After hours of being tied to over 8 tubes and getting blood transfusions, her heart stopped beating around 8:45 p.m. The doctors were unable to resuscitate her.
What happens to Braylen: Braylen will live with Radhy and his girlfriend Kirstie going forward. Braylen’s dad, family and friends will continue to be extremely active and supportive in his life. We thank you all for your support, positivity, encouragement, and care, and love at this difficult time. Let’s send off Marcy the way she deserves and would’ve liked.
