We need your help! Our family has been hit with medical bills and lost wages, and few options to keep up on bills.
Matthew, just turning 13 this month, has been struggling with social anxiety severe enough to impact his school performance, connections with family and friends, and participation in things he would normally enjoy since he was about 8.
This past year, the combination of growing up and middle school and bullying has hit him really hard, with some scary moments and many anguished hours. We decided to take a new tactic on his treatment, changing the medicines he's on, the type of therapy he's involved in, how often he sees his doctors and I'm SO happy to say it's WORKING! Matthew's made huge strides over the summer and if we keep going, maybe 8th grade can be an entirely different experience for him.
Unfortunately, a huge increase in appointments and bad days and bad mornings has meant that Mackenzie has had to take huge amounts of time off. While FMLA has protected her job, most appointments and bad days have to be taken off unpaid. The combination of increasing medical bills, our rent being raised, and decreasing income has been really rough - bills are behind, utilities teeter on being cut off, a family reunion trip has been canceled, and Matthew's late-August birthday is looking pretty bleak.
Matthew is an amazing, sweet kid and I want to do everything I can to help him healthily navigate this world. It would mean so much to both of us if we had some help covering the lost wages while he fights the hard fight to overcome all the fearful things he feels every day.
