The Clarke Central Mock Trial Team

Donation protected
The Clarke Central High School (CCHS) Mock Trial Team appreciates the community support we've received as we strive to travel to San Francisco to compete in the Empire Mock Trial Competition. If you have donated, a heartfelt THANK YOU from our team. Through your generous support of this site and other donations, we have raised almost half of the funds needed for this trip.  A gift of any size will help us meet our revised fundraising goal, and will demonstrate your support of our school and team.  We are working hard in preparation for competition.

Based on its long standing success in mock trial, Clarke Central was selected as one of only 24 teams from the United States and around the world to participate in the inaugural Empire Mock Trial Competition in San Francisco, California. The competition will take place in November of this year, right before Thanksgiving. We are raising money for the team consisting of 15 participants (students and coaches) to travel and compete in this event. Expenses are estimated as $1000 per participant. A breakdown of costs is listed below.

Last year was the 25th year of the Mock Trial Program at Clarke Central High School. During that time, CCHS has won fourteen (14) Regional Championships, three (3) State Championships and one National Championship. In those years that it didn’t win state, it was a state semi-finalist six (6) other times and made it to the state finals on three (3) of those occasions. In the other two national competitions, CCHS finished 23rd and 6th in the nation. Over those years, student attorneys and witnesses garnered numerous Most Outstanding Attorney and Witness Awards at all levels of regional, state and national competition.

Clarke Central is a public high school located in the heart of Athens, GA. In 2010, U.S. News and World Report awarded Clarke Central the Silver Medal and ranked the school in the top 3% of high schools nationwide and in the top 11 in the state of Georgia. Newsweek named CCHS one of America's Best Schools and placed it in the 96th percentile of high schools nationwide. In 2012, Clarke Central was named an AP Science, Technology, Electronics and Mathematics Honor School by the Georgia Department of Education. It was also ranked in the top 11% of high schools nationwide by the Washington Post's High School Challenge.

Clarke Central achieves these accolades with a population including 70% of students qualifying for free or reduced-priced lunch programs. Clarke County has 35% of residents below the poverty level.

Donations to the Mock Trial team are handled through the Gladiator Alumni Foundation and are tax deductible. (The federal tax ID number is 80-0505418.)  Of course, any amount of support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for considering a donation to support the CCHS Mock Trial Gladiators!
