Prayers For Pierce

Donation protected
Pierce was born Feb. 3rd 2014 with a genetic disorder called. SMA type 1 - Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
Pierce has been hospitalized since August 8th 2014 with what the Dr. said was a common cold.  A child with SMA there is no such thing as a common cold. Pierce was vented to help him control his breathing and to help him rest.  A child with SMA does not have the muscle strength to cough hard enough to loosen the mucus.  He's a little fighter! and pure sweetness.   He is getting better and stronger every day. God has had him in the palm of his hand. We as his family are believing in God's grace and Mercy and if it's God's will, Pierce will be healed and will tell the multitudes of Gods healing power.
Not only are Mom and Dad faced with high medical bills, they also are in need of relocating to be nearer to family for help and support with the care that Pierce will need ongoing. Please help me in making this happen for my precious Grand Son..

All donations will be used for the well being of Pierce and his needs to fight this dreaded disease. Please help us help Pierce..

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) refers to a group of diseases which affect the motor neurons of the spinal cord and brain stem. These critically important cells are responsible for supplying electrical and chemical messages to muscle cells. Without the proper input from the motor neurons, muscle cells cannot function properly. The muscle cells will, therefore, become much smaller (atrophy) and will produce symptoms of muscle weakness. Degeneration and death of the motor neurons (also called Anterior Horn Cells) in the brain stem and spinal cord produces weakness in the muscles of swallowing, breathing, and limbs. This disease afflicts infants, children, and adults worldwide. It is estimated that spinal muscular atrophy occurs in between one-in-6,000 and one-in-20,000 births. Advances in our understanding of the genetics of this disorder confirm that the majority of children and adults afflicted with SMA, have inherited this disorder by receiving one gene from both their mother and their father. This is termed “autosomal recessive genetic transmission.”
