Fallen Soldier / John Kushwara

Donation protected

He was born and raised in Northern California. I was 7 years old when my baby brother was born. My older sister and I were really excited to have him in our lives, until we had to wash his cloth diapers by hand.
We lived on a farm, "Little House on the Prairie".  All three of us grew
close together hating our lives on the farm.  Our Dad got a job in
Sacramento as a Correctional Officer at Folsom Prison.  So we packed it up like the Beverly Hillbillys' and headed to the big city.  After a while
we went our separate ways. My sister got married, I got married, and
my little brother decided to join the Marine Corps.  Then a couple of
years later he got married to his wife, Aquila.  He has 2 awesome kids
with her;  Nick and Allison, who are now 17 & 15.  Shortly after the
Twin Towers fell,  he was deployed to Fallujah, Iraq.  Sadly when he
returned he was not the same.  PTSD and alcohol took over his life,
along with Traumatic Brain Injury.  He was now divorced and without his kids.  He was on a downward spiral. With years of depression and a sense of no hope,
tragically his life ended at only 39 years old after giving up his struggle
with these problems.  His family, friends, and fiancee will all miss him
dearly.  We are all very sad that his life had to end this way and we hope this raises awareness for other veterans who are suffering from these
same issues.

As a veteran he is entitled to certain death benefits but sadly this will
not cover all the cost of bringing him home.  He would want his resting
place to be with his father in Eagle Point National Cemetery in
Oregon.  We want to make sure that his wish is carried out and that his children who live in Florida can come for the services along with his
fiancee in North Carolina.

We need the funds as soon as possible so that we can finalize
arrangements for the funeral service.  We thank you in advance for all
of your support.  His mother Patricia Kushwara  will be in charge of
final expenses.
