Treatment Fund for Justin O'Keefe / Age: 38

Hi Family and Friends!

About 8 weeks ago my son Justin started to experience fairly severe headaches that began occurring on a daily basis. He has suffered from migraines most of his life and did not think these were any different. However, as time progressed so did the frequency and the pain. After many weeks of enduring these headaches all while carrying on with his daily work and home life, Justin and Tina decided that he should seek medical attention from his family doctor. After seeing his family doctor on Friday August 8th, the first conclusion was that he may be experiencing what is known as cluster headaches which in most cases you just have to endure and allow them to run their course. His doctor gave him a prescription for pain medication and scheduled him for blood work and a CT Scan on Tuesday August 12th.

On the night of Saturday August 9th the pain began to get much worse and included nausea, vomiting, and double vision. Early Sunday morning, Justin’s wife Tina convinced him to go to the Emergency Room. The results of an MRI revealed a golf ball sized growth near the surface of the right side of his brain. Surgery was performed on Monday August 11th where the tumor was removed. Thanks to the amazing skill of the neuro surgeon and her surgical team, the surgery was a remarkable success and Justin did not lose any of his motor skills, speech abilities, or cognitive skills.

The Doctors, Nurses, and staff have all been amazing. Justin is now recovering at home from surgery. Although the surgery was nothing short of a miracle, there are still some challenges ahead. The tumor was malignant and Justin will require 12 weeks of chemo and radiation therapy as a preventive measure.

We want to thank you all for your prayers, blessings, and good thoughts. The out pouring of love from all of you has just been amazing and every day we are thankful for all the love you have shown him!

Many friends and family have asked how they can help, so I created this page so family and friends can make contributions that will help with their expenses. Their portion of the medical bills thus far is excessive and will continue to grow as he receives treatment.

Justin, who is already a one-time cancer survivor where he was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor when he was just 18 months old had beaten cancer 36 years ago and he will most certainly do it again. Please keep him in your prayers.
