Matilda's Miracle Bunny Money

Donation protected
I'm going to start this off with, I don't often ask for help and I have a hard time doing so.

Matilda is in need of emergency surgery.   The vet gave an estimate of $3,000.  Before you suggest or say "If you can't afford an animal why do you have one" etc etc etc.  Please understand that my animals are my world,  my children,  my loves.... I do the very best I am able and I treat them with love, kindness, respect, and give them everything they want and need.   This was an accident and came as an unplanned expense which I cannot afford.

Matilda's Story
When I was 20,  Many, many years ago,  I got a Yorkie puppy.  He went with me everywhere,  to school, to work, to parties, to clubs... (yes,  this was the Paris Hilton era).  Lucky was my co-pilot through my adult life.  He was my pillow through moving across the country,  the death of my father, marriage and divorce, and discovering the new chapter in my life- which is now.  Blessed be the moment!
In April,  Lucky fell ill at the old age of 14.   He got sick and went down hill so rapid, it was like I didn't even have a chance to react.   He left this life and went to play in the stars with my dad and Grama and all those beautiful souls who have passed before us.... Leaving me broken hearted.
I decided I was not ready to get another small dog.  I still am not.  Lucky's legacy will live for a long time!!!  But what I did decide was that I wanted to help other dogs (and cats and animals alike)  find their forever homes.  Connect people with animals who they could love and be loved.  I volunteered at the local shelter,  but before I could commit to working,  I wanted to make sure I could be there without wanting to bring every animal home!  I brought one of the children I work with to the shelter as a community outting (field trip!)  and we saw puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats.... I was fine.  Unaffected.  The little girl then asked me, "What's in there?"  I look and it was the rabbit room.  We went in and immediately this large, huge amazing rabbit in his own enormous cage caught my eye.  "That one is adopted but you can play with him,  He is a Giant Flemish Rabbit and is more like a dog than a rabbit."   I took photos and played with him and my heart melted.
Upon arriving home, heavy hearted still, I showed my fiance the photos and told him of our play.  It was agreed that we would adopt a large giant bunny into our home.
We worked close with the breeder of the large breed of rabbits to ensure we understood the care, time, and got to know the future member of our family!
Matilda was adopted into our home on May 4th, as my friends you know she quickly became a wellknown facebook face!  She has grown at a rapid rate and has warmed the heart (and toes) of every guest we have had!  She is a magical special girl.
While Matilda came into my life to help heal my heart, a new special love grew within me.    If you haven't met her,  my words won't make much sense to you but she is magical!  Her spirit and her personality,  her charm and her "bulldozer" brut bunny style is special and unique!
I love my girl more than anything in the world!  She is spoiled-  she lives in her own bedroom complete with chandelier and Louis XIV furnishings... she gets fresh alphalpha and organic goodies daily and she's a love!

What Happened?
So,  what is wrong?  What happened?  Well, this is a little bit of a mystery but I have my suspicion.  While I was at work one evening,  in the few hours I was away from home,  her door must not have been closed all the way to her room.  It was opened (Either by wind or cat or dog)  and she was loose without supervision.  During this time,  something happened to her hind leg.   I came home to find her hurt.  I checked the bones and she seemed fine.  I waited a few days to allow her to rest.  She was naturally resting and taking it easy.  She was still eating and going to her box to poop,  just taking it easy on her leg and putting no weight on it.   Saturday morning (Today),  she let me know she wasn't feeling well (I speak bunny!) we went into the vet and I learned her hind hoppy leg was infact broken.
Her injury is fixable.  I am looking for the surgeon to do it now as many vets will not operate on rabbits-  But I have faith that we will find her doctor!  (Many people are helping work on this!)

What We Need:
Beyond your conscious thoughts of healing and prayers,  the expense was more than I can pocket right now.  I need some help to heal Matilda.  I realize this is a hard time of year for many of you (us)  financially.  Following all the fun summer festivities and events, going into the change of seasons and the expenses that brings.... But every little bit will help.  I've seen miracles happen and I believe in it.

Incentives:
We will be doing a special gift for those who contribute.... working out the details as soon as I finish typing this!   But as always it will be colorful and full of happy sparkle goodness!   COMING SOON............
