Selig's Family Jewel Surgery

Selig was born at Gerda's Animal Aid Horse Rescue to Blondie. He is now 16 months old and is still missing one of his testicles!
This all means Selig is a cryptorchid, meaning only one of his testicles has dropped. We have had our vets closely monitoring him in hopes that it will appear and since it did not, it has been decided he will need to undergo surgery in the fall. This surgical procedure will be preformed at Tufts University Hospital. They will search for the missing testicle, remove it and the dropped one as well. Once done he will be available for adoption...as a new gelding!
Our goal is to reach donations of $3500 to cover all expenses. We have been given a quote of anywhere from $600 - $3000 for the surgery itself, depending on how extensive the surgery will be. We are anticipating needing $500 for his shipping and after care.
We need to be assured that we will have the maximum funding before we schedule the surgery. *Should we be lucky enough to have it cost less than expected we will refund the donations that are not needed for Selig!

Selig's story:
In the Fall of 2012 Blondie, a stunning pony mare was waiting along with many other horses in a feedlot to be shipped to Mexico for slaughter. She was a terrified little horse AND she was pregnant!
Gaa rescued her and on April 10 2013 Selig arrived in the early morning hours. We all enjoyed watching him grow and all the antics that go along with a healthy colt, he has been nothing but a joy at every stage of his life so far.
Selig will not be able to be put up for adoption until he is gelded as the policy of GAA is never to place a stud colt or horse into a home until it's been neutered.
We are a not for profit and depend on public donations to survive. Now we are needing help for this little guy. Please consider helping making a donation, there is no amount too small!
